There’s just something about the Ford Mustang, we can’t explain it. We’ve worked on a few, including a Simon Hadfield Motorsport rennovation, and the ‘run around’ Tim Shaw likes to ensure he has full use of during the filming of Car S.O.S. That said, even as a fan of the Mustang, I don’t personally know too much about them, apart from to say they are great fun to drive. The appearance in James Bond’s Goldfinger definitely cemented them in the hearts of many and they’ve stayed a firm favourite ever since.

Simon Hadfield Motorsport – Mustang
This Mustang is destined for greatness. Plans are in motion to completely restore the car, firstly by stripping it back to the bare shell and then to build it back up, with the long term aim to race in a variety of endurance races throughout Europe. As you can imagine, we’re keen to see this car in action!
Some of the filler we uncovered on the roof:

We removed the filler found on the roof and other areas, plus all of the paint and rust.
Since leaving our premises, this Ford Mustang has been completely re-built to the owner, Simon Clarke’s, specifications. This included fitting a 4.7 V8 engine, two fuel tanks (so that the car is suitable for both sprint races and endurance races), specialist custom made exhaust, and overall upgrades throughout. The upgrades have already meant that the Mustang has been active and present at a variety of events, including Silverstone Classic Masters Historic and Spa Six Hours – with lots planned throughout 2019 throught Europe.
Here’s a recent write up on the car, looking fantastic, as featured in the Mustang Owners Club GB Magazine:
