We’ve recently had another famous figure visit our unit.
This time, the lucky owner of a very rare Austin Atlantic convertible asked us to help with his restoration process. The owner, David Whyley, is in the process of writing an article on the work he has completed to date, which is due to be published in September/October – we’re looking forward to the article appearing and will share it with our Facebook/Twitter followers ASAP!
I’m pleased to be able to share this information from David regarding the car and work completed:
An Austin Atlantic convertible is a very unusual classic car, and having waited over 25 years for this rare and famous vehicle to come into my ownership I was very nervous about finding the right firm to work on the car to clean and prepare it back to bare metal so that the bodywork restoration could commence. Being a Black Country lad myself I wanted to find a Black Country firm to undertake this delectate task. It was a luck day for me when I came across the website for Soda Blast in Bilston. A quick phone call was made to Dave who invited me over to talk in depth about the job. Once over in Bilston I was able to chat with Dave and James about the work on the whole body tub and chassis. They immediately gave me the confidence they they were experts in their work and more than that, they were real vehicle enthusiasts, who would care for my car as if it was their own. The service was excellent. The work was fitted in around my timetable. (Dropped off on Monday and picked up on Friday) I was able to view the car once it had been blasted back to bare metal and they arranged for it to be primered before I picked it up. A total service!
This was a tricky job, as I wanted the body and the chassis to remain together, and it required getting into tight corners and lots of nooks and crannies. I also wanted the badly corroded areas to be delicately cleaned so that enough structure was left to enable the restored parts to be made to fit. The team did a fantastic job.
I am delighted with the quality of workmanship and care taken by the Soda Blast team. I would thoroughly recommend their services to any classic car enthusiast. Many thanks.
