Car Shell Restoration

It’s every restorer’s nightmare – spending £1000’s returning a classic car to its original glory, to then find it rotting from the inside out. Why risk it? Soda Blasting Ltd exists to strip paint, filler, rust, grime and contaminants from your cherished vehicles. By cleaning shells right back to bare metal, you can see exactly what condition the metalwork is in, and therefore what work needs to be done for the best restoration.

Within our purpose built facilities, our meticulous team use both bicarbonate of soda and crushed glass to strip away all the coatings covering up your vehicle’s past. We’ll actually work on each surface area at least two to three times during the stripping process. This ensures no coating is missed, but also allows us to record any obvious areas showing signs of damage repair, for your records. As all work is completed by hand, you have the option to choose whether thicker areas of filler are removed or left in place – you can check over the places of concern prior to deciding the best course of action.

Car Panels

Arguably the part of a car you want to look the best – everyone sees the doors, bonnet and tailgate / bootlid! As with shells, we work within our purpose built facilities, stripping away all the coatings covering up your vehicle’s past.  We’ll actually blast clean each surface area at least twice during the stripping process.

This ensures no coating is missed, but also allows us to record any obvious areas showing signs of damage repair, for your records.  Whilst damage to panels may be less of a concern than hidden damage on a vehicle’s shell, it’s definitely still worth knowing exactly what condition your vehicles are in.

As all work is completed by hand, you have the option to choose whether thicker areas of filler are removed or left in place – you can check over the places of concern prior to deciding the best course of action.

Engine Components

The little things really do matter. We’ve spent 100’s of hours meticulously cleaning engines – both stripped down engine parts and complete engines. With SBL, you are in the best position to control the finished look of your items. At your disposal, is not only the option of soda blasting, but also vapour blasting, ultrasonic cleaning, and hot washing – putting the top options on the market under one roof.

There are a number of considerations to factor into component cleaning – not least the finish. You can choose a satin-shine finish utilising our vapour blaster, which will peen items making them, in many cases, look good as new. If you’re planning to paint items, soda blasting may be the best option – as this cleans away dirt and paint but doesn’t leave as ‘clean’ a finish.

So, why not take a look at our different cleaning options using our Blast Cleaning tab.

Vehicle Suspension

It’s easy to overlook the finer details when completing a restoration. It really is worth looking after the areas that will look after you. Not least, the suspension. Our processes are fantastic at stripping away dirt, rust, and aged oil from various components. We normally utilise our crushed glass system when cleaning suspension components, as it is a slightly more abrasive technique, giving the best finish possible.

Restoring your car with Soda blasting and Media Blasting

Within our purpose built facilities, our meticulous team use both bicarbonate of soda and crushed glass media blasting to strip away all the coatings covering up your vehicle’s past.

Why use two blasting restoration methods?
After spending thousands of hours working on and restoring hundreds of cars, we’ve learnt exactly what process works on what.
Different processes have different qualities, so we utilise the best qualities in bicarbonate of soda and crushed glass to give the best finish to every item we receive.
Below we explain teh different benefits you get with each method.
Bicarbonate of Soda
– No chance of heat distortion to thin steel or aluminium
– No pitting or scratching of surface
– Safe to use on carbon fibre as it will not attack the gel coating

Crushed Glass
– Effectively removes rust
– Safely removes filler (both thick and thin layers including spray filler)
– Removes underseal

You can request that only one type of media is used, but you’ll need to chat to one of our team about these requirements.
